Linda Yaccarino, the first permanent CEO of X appointed by Elon Musk, announced on Wednesday that she would step down from her role as CEO of X Corp.
Yaccarino was hired in June 2023 following Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, and previously built her reputation as an advertising powerhouse at NBCUniversal.
Her appointment was seen as a strategic move to reassure advertisers and Tesla investors that X would be under experienced leadership.
During her 18 months in charge, she led a range of initiatives aimed at turning X into an “everything app,” expanding its product portfolio, and leaning into ad-driven monetisation strategies, according to Axios.
Yaccarino emphasised the accomplishments of her tenure, citing a "historic business turnaround" and a renewed focus on user safety, especially for childrenwhile working to rebuild advertiser trust.
She also pointed to several platform innovations introduced during her leadership, such as Community Notes and the forthcoming X Money feature.
